Congratulations to Guy Fernand Michaud, a composer from Canada, on receiving the Gold Prize for his composition Night Wind at the Claude Debussy International Music Competition 2026 Season 1.
Speaking about his award-winning work, Guy Fernand shared:
"Thanks to the jury at the Debussy International Music Competition for awarding me Gold Prize for my composition Night Wind. I would also like to thank professor David Litke for his mentorship and sound engineer Dan Donahue for the great recording. The piece was a commissioned work and is scored for 5 guitars and 1 solo guitar. It was composed during the covid epidemic and the players were required to wear masks. Night Wind is a somewhat programmatic work which attempts to convey the fear, uncertainty and vulnerability of people experiencing a violent wind storm during the night. The piece can be heard on my YouTube channel."
