🎼✨ We are delighted to congratulate composer John Allen Kipta (United States) on winning Second Prize at the Beethoven International Music Competition UK 2026 Season 3 (1 April – 1 July 2026) with his work Waltz of the Broken Hearts.
Reflecting on his journey and expressing appreciation for his musical roots, John shares:
Thank you especially to my parents John P Kipta for sharing his Eastern European love of Discipline and music and my gifted mother Jean Kipta along with the excellent music program of award winning St Thomas More Catholic School and the opportunity to learn under Margerat Melchevsky growing up in the Chicago suburbs of NWI. She was a Tchaikovsky student protege. In today’s day and age if you were 6 years old with ping pong balls taped to your hands to learn proper Eastern European old school technique …it wouldn’t happen.
