Winner's Speech | Óscar Román Roquero | Piano | Beethoven International Music Competition UK 2026
"Hello, my name is Óscar Roquero, a Spanish pianist and teacher. And it's an immense honor to be here today receiving the master prize, three absolute first prizes, and one special award at the Beethoven International Music Competition 2026. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the jury for their trust, to the organization for making this event possible, and to everyone who has been part of shots a meaningful and enriching experience. Music and competition sometimes have a complex relationship. Competition challenge us, push us and help us grow. But music goes far beyond any prize. Music is a space of freedom, of exploration, and of personal trust. Awards are moments we celebrate. But what truly matters is the journey, the learning, and the opportunity to share with others what we feel. For me, music is a way of sharing the deepest part of who we are. Every time we perform, we are not just playing notes. We are telling stories, building bridges, and creating spaces where differences fade away and only emotion remains. In a world that sometime feels fragmented, music has the power to remind us of what truly matters. Empathy, beauty, and the ability to listen to one another. If through what I do, I can contribute even in a small way to making this world a more human place, then this journey fins its true meaning. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this recognition and for allowing music to remain a space of connection and hope. Thank you very much."
