Winner's Speech | Minseo Kim | Violin | Beethoven International Music Competition UK 2026
"Hello, I'm Minseo Kim. I am so honored to be the Beethoven Virtuosic Performance Special Award and Absolute First Prize winner of the Beethoven Music Competition UK 2026. I would like to thank the support my teacher and parents gave me throughout my journey of playing the violin and also to the judges that gave me this amazing opportunity. I have been playing the violin since I was 7 years old and it is honestly amazing even to myself to see how I grow and improve as every year passes by. This competition has become a very meaningful experience for me. It was another challenge that I went through that helped me build more confidence and helped me understand that music is another way to express my emotions and connect it with others. My passion for ensemble started when I was in elementary school. I was a member of the orchestra and I also had a chance to perform as a soloist. I continue that dedication now as a member of the Korean Youth Honor Society orchestra. My violin journey also brought me the opportunities to participate in volunteer activities which taught me that music is more of just a song or a piece but actually brings a comfort, joy and encouragement to the audiences. This is the reason why I'm eager to keep developing my skills and I want to reach a level where I can provide even more high quality performances for audiences. And this award gave me even more motivation to continue music and to become someone who can inspire and support others through the pieces I play. I hope to keep growing as a musician who delivers earnest music to as many people as possible. Thank you."
