Macarena Ferrer Valenzuela

Macarena Ferrer began her studies at the age of three with teacher Américo Giusti in the city of Concepción. She later continued her private studies with teacher Alberto Dourthé Abbé in Santiago. At the age of eighteen, she was awarded a scholarship by the United States government to pursue her undergraduate studies at Columbus State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in 1996. In 1997, she moved to Athens, Georgia, to continue her studies at the University of Georgia as a student of the renowned Russian violinist Levon Ambartsumian. There, she obtained a Master of Music in Violin Performance in 1999 and became a candidate for a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the same institution, currently in progress. Macarena Ferrer has won numerous competitions both in Chile and abroad. She has performed as a soloist and in various ensembles throughout Chile and internationally. She served as concertmaster of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile from 2003 to 2005. In 2005, she obtained the position of Assistant Principal Second Violin of the Orquesta Filarmónica del Teatro Municipal de Santiago, a position she continues to hold to this day. Macarena Ferrer is the founder of the Orquesta de Cámara Solistico de Santiago and president of the non-profit foundation Sutherland Music Solistico.
