Congratulations to young composer Rei Kita, from the University of Arts in Tirana, Albania, on being awarded the Gold Prize in the Original Composition category at the Debussy International Music Competition 2026 Season 1 for his work Le Lacrime della Terra.
Reflecting on the achievement, Kris shared his appreciation:
“Greetings from Tirana, Albania. My name is Rei Kita. I'm a composer and pianist currently continuing my studies at the University of Arts in Albania, where I also serve as the student representative of the faculty of music and as a member of the academic senate. I am deeply honored to receive the gold prize at the Debussy international music competition 2026 session one with my string quartet Le Lacrime della Terra - the tears of the earth, award that has been recognized for the second time with an international first prize distinction."
"Through this programmatic vision, I have sought to translate into music the tension, fragility and emotional turbulence of our time. The music thus becomes a reflection of humanity standing between fair and hope. I would like to conclude this video message uh with a short excerpt from my award-winning composition, The Tears of the Earth. Once again, I sincerely thank the jury of the Debussy International Music Competition for this valuable recognition."
